About

Hi, my name is Bas Zurburg and you're at my blog if you had not noticed already.

BZI work in the IT business since 1991. I started programming software that runs on mainframe platforms. With the rise of 4GL programming languages,  I have been an Oracle developer for many years. Since 2004 I am fully focused on on-line (web) development.

I have created many websites using different Content Management System platforms ranging from step-in systems to enterprise content management systems to custom built content management solutions.

Current interests

These days I am interested in intranets, all parts: the (IT) implementation, the content strategy and the management part of it.

Intranets will evolve into a critical applications within the enterprise with collaboration tools and knowledge management. I definitely see intranets as an 'enabler' for business in the future.

Except intranets and Web Applications I follow topics like Usability, Search Engine Optimization, Web Security and Web Privacy issues. The adoption of social media by corporate enterprises will be an interesting future for the next couple of years.

The challenge is to find the right mix between relevance, usability, security and SEO.

And last but definitely not least... I live together with my girlfriend and our son, called Daan. He is great guy.
